It has been identified that one of the most common causes of internal flooding and water damage in residential homes, units and commercial buildings is from a burst flexible water hose, or ‘flexi hose’.
These flexible hoses are used in Australia and around the world as a connection from the hot and cold water points to the mixer tap, toilets, dishwashers, fridges, washing machines, coffee machines, water filters etc.
Existing inferior flexi hoses have a limited lifespan and should be replaced every five years and should be checked every 2 years. Even then, they may still burst before this time. Hence, we call them “Time Bombs”.
Recently, this product failure has come into the spotlight from the insurance industry as one of the key reasons a home is flooded and subsequently damaged from leakages and major water bursts from flexible hoses.
The most important thing is prevention
The most important thing is prevention by removing the existing “time bombs” and replacing them with No Burst Flexi hoses.
Don’t become reactive by leaving the old inferior flexi (time bombs) in place and installing expensive devices that detect a leaking/ruptured flexi hose and hoping that this device actually works when the rupture occurs.
